From international bestselling author and pathologist Dr. Philippe Boxho, the secrets and stories of forensic medicine from his career examining the dead and appreciating what that reveals about life.
“Hello, Doctor? We have a problem.” A woman has been fed to a pig. A daughter shoots her father, who’s already dead. A crime scene bears an eerie resemblance to the plot of Basic Instinct. Or how about a case of spontaneous combustion?
The dead can tell you stories… if you know how to listen. And renowned Belgian forensic pathologist Dr. Philippe Boxho certainly does. In a career spanning longer than three decades, he has been called to examine over 4,000 bodies. Now he shares some of his most memorable, chilling, and often morbidly funny stories.
Dr. Boxho takes us to crime scenes where bodies disappear, murders are covered up, suicides reveal surprises, and the dead aren’t always as dead as we think they are. Exploring a range of fatal circumstance—some brutal, some accidental, and others cruelly mundane—he brings to life the science behind his quests to uncover the truth.
Fascinating, surprising, entertaining, and deeply moving, Conversations with the Dead offers readers a glimpse into the darkest recesses of the human psyche, and exposes the universal threads of life that make us human.
