What are the rules for the Page-A-Day® Photo Contests?

How do I enter the Pet Calendar Contest?

You can enter through our online submission portal or by email:

  • Entering on PageADay.com: Submitting your pet’s photo on our website is the easiest way to enter the contest! Simply drag the photo you’d like to submit from your desktop to the “Drag your files here” box or click “browse” to select a photo from your computer. Use the form to enter your contact information and tell us about your pet, check the box to let us know you’re not a robot, and then click the “Submit” button. That’s it!
  • Entering by email: If you’re having trouble with the online form, you can enter the contest by email. Please send your photo in JPG, PNG, or JPG format to pageadayteam@hbgusa.com with “Pet Calendar Contest” in the subject line. Be sure to include your pet’s name, age, breed, and some information about them, as well as your name, city, and state in the body of the email.

What information do I need to include with my submission? 

We need your pet’s name, your full name, and your city and state to include your photo in our calendar. If you’re submitting a photo with multiple animals in it, be sure to provide all their names. We also need your email so we can let you know when your pet will appear in the calendar!

Can my pet be in the calendar if I’m located outside of the United States?

Yes! International pets are always welcome, but are ineligible for the grand prize.

How many photos can I submit?

The number of photos you submit is up to you, but please keep in mind that in order to feature as many pets as possible, we only include one photo per pet per calendar. We will choose the best submitted photo of your pet. It’s the quality, not quantity, of your submission that counts!

What kind of photo should I submit?

Pick your favorite photos! Choose a photo that showcases your pet’s personality, whether they’re a feisty feline or cute canine. Keep in mind that clear, well-lit photos with your pet in-focus have the best chances of being chosen.

Our editors are always looking for pets on vacation, celebrating holidays, and looking adorable. Puppy and kitten photos are especially welcome—we always need more!

What kind of photo should I not submit?

We can’t accept photos that have been enhanced or generated by AI. Photos that are heavily filtered or Photoshopped, photo collages, or photos with text overlaid on them will also not be chosen.

We will not choose photos that include humans—let your pet be the star!

Please do not submit photos of pets that aren’t cats or dogs (unless they are with cats or dogs), or photos of statues, drawings, or stuffed animals.

Can I submit my pet’s photo by mail?

We’re currently only accepting digital photo submissions, and we’re no longer able to accept mail-in photo submissions. Please use the online submission portal or send your photo by email to pageadayteam@hbgusa.com.

How do I know that the photo of my pet is high quality/ large enough? 

If you are using a smartphone or modern digital camera, and you upload the photo at the highest resolution, chances are the photo will be high quality. If you don’t understand photo optimization, do not attempt to resize the image—most likely this will result in a lower-quality image. All images must be uploaded at the highest quality available in a JPG, Tiff, or PNG format. This file has to be at least 300 dpi for the format of the calendar (width: 5.25 inches or height: 5.25 inches). Remember that we can reduce a photo in size successfully, but not enlarge it.

I entered my pet in your Photo Contest! Did he or she win? When will I find out?

Our judges get so many entries that sometimes it takes several weeks or longer to get through them. If your pet is chosen to be in our print calendar, we’ll notify you when the calendar is available for preorder, the summer before the calendar year. If your pet is chosen for the 2027 calendar, you’ll be notified by September 2026.

If you have not received notification that your pet will appear in our print calendar, your photo may still be considered for a future calendar. There isn’t room for every pet submitted to our calendar, but our editors often set aside photos to be used in later years. Your pet still has a great chance of being chosen in the future!

What if I miss the submission period?

Don’t worry! Submissions are accepted year-round, and your entry will be considered regardless of when it is received.

When will I see my pet in the calendar?

Our editors work about two years ahead to ensure that our calendars are printed and ready to go on sale the summer before the calendar year. This means it might be a while before you see your pet in our pages—a photo submitted in 2026 will likely appear in the 2028 or 2029 calendars.

Will I receive a free copy of the calendar if my pet is chosen?

Unfortunately, we’re no longer able to provide complimentary copies to everyone featured in the calendar. However, we do offer discount codes for our winners.

What is the grand prize?

Our pet contest’s grand prize winners have their pets featured on January 1st and receive a $500 gift card to a national pet store, plus five complimentary copies of the calendar. How many grand prize winners are there? There is one grand prize winner per each of our pet calendars: 365 Cats Page-A-Day® Calendar, 365 Dogs Page-A-Day® Calendar, 365 Kittens-A-Year Picture-A-Day® Wall Calendar, and 365 Puppies-A-Year Picture-A-Day® Wall Calendar.
